Working in a Customer Service position has become the death of me. I've decided that this is how I will die, from holding in all my sassy comments until I explode and just die due to having too much sass. My tombstone will read, "If you ain't got nothin' nice to say, say it anyway because you just might die".
I've learned working with people is hard, but serving them is even harder.
When the customer places the money on the counter:
When a customer requests fresh food:
This feels like every other customer. And no, you can't, unless you want to wait almost 20 minutes.
Or when they get fresh, right out of the fryer food and insists it's not fresh:
You learn not everyone was born with common sense:
"Would you like to try the house salad?"
"Yes"
"OK, Fried or Grilled?"
"Yes"
"I'm sorry, Fried or Grilled?"
"What's the difference?"
Those super flattering uniforms:
Weekends? Holidays? What are those? Fast Food stops for no one or nothing.
When you hear "I've got a line on-counter" or "We're wrapped on-drive"
When you are clearly helping a customer, but another customer interrupts to complain:
When another employee tries to tell you what to do and how to do it like it's not your job:
When you're being talked to like trash and you're trying to decide if this job is really worth it:
When a customer treats you like their own bank and pays with all the loose change they have:
Or pays $100 dollars on a bill that's less than $15
When someone let's their 4 year old kid order:
You may think this is cute, but it is extremely rude.
When the customer doesn't realize you "messed up their order" until they're half way done:
When you put in a customer's order and they try to change it:
So in the end?
Serving people may be hard, but keeping your sanity is the hardest.
