Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were my idols, my imaginary friends, and my inspirations growing up. Their faces decorated the labels of my clothing, my Barbie dream house, closet doors, and basically anything someone paid them to put their name on. But at the end of the day when all toys were played with and done, I always found myself cuddling up with my Mary-Kate and Ashley dolls while watching one of their hit movies. Here is the rundown of all 16 Mary-Kate and Ashley's movies ranked:
16. "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle."
Honestly, did anyone have any idea until this article that Mary Kate and Ashley were in this?
15. "The Little Rascals."
I didn't notice any little Olsen rascals in this film.
14. "How the West Was Fun."
The only thing 'wild" about this movie was the plot. Two twin girls trying to save grandmother's ranch from shady developers, pretty wild. But, was the west fun? Not really.
13. "Getting There: Sweet 16 and Licensed to Drive."
We are "getting there" towards the better one. Two girls attempting to make it to the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake when their car gets stolen, and then when they finally make it to the Olympics in the end, they missed it. Far-fetched? Yes. Points for the velvet pants? Heck yes.
12. "It Takes Two."
Two girls meet at camp and decide to set up their parents. Sound familiar? Highly similar to the hit, "The Parent Trap," but with the Olsen twins. Team Olsen over Team Lohan any day.
11. "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble."
The Olsen twins at their prime cuteness try to trick their evil aunt out of a magic moonstone to save their family home. This movie had all the great elements of Halloween but double: double witches, double pigtails, double cute outfits, double the fun.
10. "Switching Goals."
The twins take on a sporty element this time around. They attempt to have their father win his seventh soccer game. Honestly, if I ever have kids, I hope my kids are as helpful as the Olsen twins throughout their movies. They always have their parents' back. Plus, I wish my hair could look that good while playing soccer or doing any other physical activity.
9. "Billboard Dad."
Another day, another Olsen movie helping out their dad. The twins this time decide to post an ad on a billboard in the pre-Tinder days. What a time to be alive in 1998.
8. "When in Rome."
The girls head to Italy for the summer when they thought they were offered an internship in an Italian fashion powerhouse. Yet, they end up working in the mailroom. Hey, everyone in the fashion industry needs to start somewhere. Some in a mailroom and some on a hit '90s sitcom about a large family.
7. "Winning London."
An international Model UN competition goes for a spin of its own when Chloe and Riley Lawrence come to London. In high school if I would have known you could possibly go to London for a few weeks and slide by in a competition while partying and meeting cute boys who wearing platforms, I would of been so down.
6. "To Grandmother's House We Go."
Perhaps the greatest work of the young Olsens' career. At the height of their Michelle Tanner cuteness, they head off to grandmother's house when their mom gets a little stressed out. They make our threats of running away from home when we were kids come to life, and they were successful while doing it. And it was Christmas. And it was a holly jolly movie. Simply a Christmas miracle.
5. "Our Lips are Sealed."
Another DVD, another trip abroad. This time to Sydney as part of the Witness Protection Program after two criminals want to prevent them from testifying in court. Apparently that's the "last place on Earth" to send them after they keep getting hunted down. Eh, not a bad gig, though. Count me in.
4. "New York Minute."
It only took these two a New York Minute to become stars, and they hit home in this last movie. Two girls ditch school for the day while one of their school supervisors follow them around. It was a tad crazy, but once again the Olsen twins fulfill our dreams of ditching school in the Big Apple.
3. "Passport to Paris."
Two words: teenage dream. The twins travel to Paris to visit their grandfather, meet two hot Parisian boys (oui oui), travel the City of Love, fall in love, and probably live and love happily ever after. I'm done.
2. "The Challenge."
This pair could have been the original Anna and Elsa from "Frozen." Rival sisters come together to overcome a challenge, and love each other in the end. Except it's in Mexico, the challenge is a "Survivor" type show -- oh, and they're twins. This movie showed that your sisterly love is all you need, and that deserves a second place spot.
1. "Holiday in the Sun."
Coming in at the top notch spot is the most iconic Mary Kate and Ashley movie. Twins Alex and Madison head to the Bahamas before they find themselves interfering with some stolen artifacts. But that odd plot line aside, let's think of the positives: the location (didn't we all want to go to Atlantis after that?), the boys (wanted me to go there even more), those chokers on the cover, and most importantly the guest appearance by Megan Fox (look it up). The opening song, "Island in the Sun" by Weezer, set the tone for the rest of the film. Amazing. Simply amazing.
