Every year, Earth Day is full of excitement for all! Everyone makes a post on social media either from their exotic vacation or their spring break beach trip. Sometimes, people go to to local festivals and rave about what they learned and how everyone should go.

These are all great things, but why does it only have to be once a year? Why is it only a social media post on a white sandy beach at a tourist destination?

If you want to make Earth Day everyday, here are some very simple things that can become second nature!

1. Google what's actually going on!

This is so simple and takes a couple of minutes out of your day and can potentially enlighten you for a life time! For peer reviewed articles make sure to make your research with "google scholar"

For starters maybe google "Palm Oil industry." Trust me, this is all you need to get started.

2. Get involved!

If you liked that instagram picture or enjoyed that booth that talked about local shelters and nature clubs, why not try getting involved?

Research the local area and see what clubs and groups care about the environment as much as you do and find a vast number of opportunities to make a change!

Try Sierra Club, they're everywhere and always looking for a helping hand! You'll be amazed by the vast number of people who care about the local environment and the actions they take.

3. Change your lifestyle!

This maybe hard to swallow, but your lifestyle is likely to be toxic to the natural world without you knowing it!

Back to Google, try calculating your carbon footprint with a calculator online. Think of things in your life that can be considered wasteful and aren't a necessity for everyday use.

Do you drive when you can walk?

Do you purchase plastic water bottles instead of having a reusable one?

Do you throw away paper when you known when you can recycle?

Even if you don't care about the environment, try educating yourself and see what you learn!

If you do care and find yourself feeling like you can do so much more, go out into the world and make a change!

Do it for the bees, the trees and all of the natural world in-between!

Happy being green!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
