11 Things All Returning Texas Tech Students Look Forward To This Fall

As summer comes to an end and school approaches, we all anxiously wait for another semester to start. However, summer ending doesn't have to sound so dull, and there is so much to look forward to in Lubbock this fall. I've listed eleven events to look forward to this fall!

1. Raider Welcome Week

Raider welcome week includes two weeks worth of free events for all new and returning students. Their website contains the official list full of activities, times and places. Welcome week will commence August 19th through September 1st. This is a great way to meet new friends while making the transition (back) to campus and Lubbock. Wreck em'

2. Texas Tech Football

The countdown begins! Tech's first football game will be hosted in Houston at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 1st vs. Ole Miss. The first home game will take place Saturday, September 8th at 3 p.m. at the Jones AT&T Stadium vs. Lamar University.

3. The First Friday Art Trail

One of my favorite events that goes on all year round. This event takes place the first Friday of every month for FREE. Held at the Lubbock Cultural District from 6-9 pm.

4. Night Out at Charley B's

If you haven't been out to Charley B's on a Thursday night, you're honestly missing out! Charley B's is also known to host some great artists, for more information check out their web-page!

5. Salsa Night

Hosted by the creators of Salsa Night, Hispanic Student Society (HSS), the first Salsa Night of the semester will be located at OHM Nightclub on Saturday, September 1st. Come out to the first of many night outs. For more upcoming dates, follow HSS on social media.

6. Jab Fest

Jab Fest is an annual show filled with live music and great concerts. This year the event will take place Friday, September 8th and Saturday, Septemeber 9th from 5-11 pm at the Lonestar Amphitheater.

7. Stars and Stripes Drive-In Theater

Stars and Stripes is a drive-in movie theater open nightly! Head over and to watch a movie and enjoy a classic meal from their 50's cafe.

8. At'l Farms Corn Maze

The best way to transition into the fall season! At'l Farms Corn Maze will be open from Saturday, September 15th through Saturday, November 10th.

9. Nightmare on 19th Street

Nothing screams fall like October. The Nightmare on 19th street will open on Friday, September 28th until Friday, November 3rd. For prices and more information check out their web-page.

10. Top Eateries

Some great eateries you're probably dying to check out again and didn't even realized you missed: Orlando's Italian Restaurant, Spanky's, Raider Burrito, The Shack BBQ, Pancake House, Lubbock Breakfast House and Grill, and more. YUM!

11. Lubbock's Local Coffee Shops

I think it's safe to say that heading back to college, means making lots of coffee runs. Don't forget to check out some of Lubbock's local coffee shops: Sugar Brown's, J&B Coffee and Yellow House Coffee.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
