The first day is here! College is finally started. For some of you this is the first day of college and for others it might be the last. Either way you need some sort of survival kit to avoid the stress levels, the procrastination, and the craziness of the first week. So, here I am to save the day! You're welcome.

1. A Netflix Account

This one is inevitable. You need a Netflix account to pass the time during the first week or otherwise known as syllabus week. There is nothing better than sitting down and binge watching a few episodes of Friends!

2. At least a few copies of your class schedule

You will either misplace one and panic, or you will forget where you are supposed to go and end up in the wrong class leading to embarrassment. Take it from someone who knows.

3. A roommate date night

You're going to need a friend to get through a nerve-racking week. The semester might crucial for your grades or you're just nervous to start your adult life. Having a support system is always the best way to approach something such as this.

4. 800 pencils

I'm not sure if you are like me, but I always lose my pencils. I either leave them somewhere, lend them out, or just plain use them all. 800 should get you through the day at least.

5. A stuffed animal

Before you say it's stupid... it's not. Leaving home whether it be the first or 50th time it can still be hard. Having a buddy to hold on to or sleep with when homesickness starts to creep in totally helps you be more comfortable. My giraffe Gerald is awesome. I love him. (Don't judge; I know you already have one.)

6. Always have a snack

Days can be long, and your appetite don't help that. Carry a protein bar or a small bag of pretzels to get you through the day. Sometimes you need that extra boost, so once you hit history you might not fall asleep!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
