Essential Oils Are Actually 'Essential'

I live a pretty busy life filled with school, work, internship, and writing every day. Most days I tend to not get home until 7:30 at night and don’t eat much while I’m in between events.

With that being said, I’ve had plenty of experiences with stress. I’ve experienced the tense feeling rushing all over my body, the panic of not being able to breathe, and the moment where all hope seems lost. It’s not fun. No one enjoys going through it. But, it does happen, no matter how badly you don’t want it to.

A lot of my friends are strong believers in essential oils, but I never really gave them much thought. When my schedule started to get hectic again this year, I decided that giving essential oils a chance wasn’t that bad of an idea.

Essential Oils have changed my life forever.

I first started my oil experience with a small bottle of Lavender essential oil. Lavender is a common scent that’s highly recommended to alleviate stress. I would put a small amount of the oil on my wrists and behind my ears before walking into a difficult class, before taking a test, and before work. The results were astounding. I immediately felt calmer than I ever had before and whenever I began to feel stressed, the scent would calm my nerves.

But, I couldn’t let the journey end there. I began to also use Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lemongrass, and Tea Tree essential oils that I purchased off of Amazon for a fair price. Eucalyptus helps with mental fatigue, Peppermint helps to improve memory, Lemongrass helps to relax and de-stress your body, and Tea Tree is used as an all-around oil.

Essential Oils and their accessories are perfect for when you’re home and on the go.

Since my experience with oils started, I’ve also explored the perks of the accessories that come with it. An essential oil diffuser has become the most important part of my home life.

A Peppermint, Lavender blend in my diffuser has proved to be the best thing to help me focus while I’m doing homework and get me moving along with my day.

Then, when it comes to winding down for the night, I switch to a Lavender, Eucalyptus blend to soothe my nerves to sleep.

Not only are oil diffusers a key part of my life, but I’ve also found that oil diffuser jewelry also has its perks. As much as I enjoy placing the oil on my wrists and behind my ears, the scent doesn’t linger as long as I would prefer.

Oil diffuser jewelry helps the scent to linger longer while serving as a cute accessory. My personal favorite is the natural oil diffuser bracelet by Earthshine Goods. The bracelet is made with balance beads, handcrafted wooden beads, and lava rock beads that naturally soak up the oil.

Now, I live a healthy, stress-free lifestyle.

Thanks to my oils, I’m able to tackle the day without letting myself get overwhelmed. While my journey is well underway, my adventure with essential oils is just beginning.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
