College is full of tough decisions and risky behavior. With proper guidance, you'll be able to survive them in the right way. Not everything is black and white; the grey area is what I consider college life. Here's a list of do's and dont's in college life.

1. Procrastinating is not your friend.

Procrastinating in college versus high school is a whole new ball game.

2. Staying up after 2:00am isn't either.

As Ted Mosby always preaches, nothing good happens after 2:00am.

3. Don't skip your classes.

Whether its a 8:00am, 9:00am, or even a 3:00pm... Don't. Do. It.

4. Don't be awkward.

College is a time to broaden your horizons and to have a fresh start.

4. Try not to keep a closed mind.

In college, you're around so many new opportunities--take advantage of them.

5. Be yourself.

You have a fresh start, don't waste it. Do you.

6. Don't be afraid to make friends.

There's a new face every turn you make, you're bound to meet someone special.

7. Try to go to the gym majority of the week.

Make it a priority to go to the gym at least four times a week. You'll thank me later.

8. Make sure you know your professor's office hours.

As much as you may not think they have the time to help you, their office hours are exactly what that is for.

9. You can change your major as many times as you want.

As much as its frowned upon, if you're just not happy with what you're planning your future on, change it. This is your future, remember that.

10. Making mistakes is okay.

Making mistakes is a part of life. It's completely normal, just make sure you learn from them.

11. Don't go to parties alone.

The "buddy system" is a real thing... even when you're an adult.

All in all, there are many things to watch out for in college. The most important thing is knowing how to prepare yourself for them. Things won't always go as planned but as long as you know how to get through it, you'll make some pretty great memories through out college. Just always remember that mistakes will be made, hearts will be broke, and people will change. And from the wise words of Albus Dumbledore, remember that "happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." Make the best out of every situation and find your light.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
