I've always been a reader since as long as I can remember. Renewing my library card and being able to just explore the shelves of new stories and adventures has always made me so happy. Since moving to a new state to go to school, I must admit I've been slacking on my reading. But recently, I've had the chance to sit down and read one of the best books of this generation.
Six of Crows, written by the amazingly talented Leigh Bardugo, is a story that follows a group of misfit kids on a heist to kidnap the most wanted man alive. Kaz Brekker is the ring leader of the group--mysterious and vicious, he's often known as 'dirty hands' and easily identified for his walking stick and bad ass personality. Along with Kaz comes Inej, a skillful climber and silent assassin. There's Jesper, a handy guns-man who never misses his target. Next is Nina, a powerful Grisha, aka someone who has power over the human body. Then Matthias Helvar, a cunning solider who resembles that of the Hulk. And lastly Wylan, a scrawny privileged kid who can work magic with explosives. As the story continues, each chapter is told in the perspective of a different character, and the reader is quickly swept up in the fast pace schemes of the group. As the plot unfolds, it's hilarious to see the difference in each character's perspective.
Not to give too many spoilers away, the novel is a must read for any fan of Young Adult fiction. A crazy scheme, theft, hilarious dialogue, and even hints of a romantic sub-plot, Six of Crows is beyond amazing.
