Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods are startup companies that were created to help provide a greater variety for vegetarians by offering products that look and taste like meat. Their products are sold at grocery stores and have been featured in fast-food restaurants.
Initially, Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods were merely conducting their business in attempts to help save the environment. Now it can be seen all over the supermarket shelves with all the new lines of plant-based meat options such as vegan burgers, meatballs, and chicken nuggets!
Both companies have been working really hard with their fast food projects such as the Impossible Whopper from Burger King, Dunkin's Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich, Carl's Jr.'s Beyond Famous Star Burger, White Castle's Impossible Slider, Little Caesars's Impossible Supreme Pizza, and KFC's Beyond Fried Chicken.
"Analysts project that the market for plant-based protein and lab-created meat alternatives could be worth as much as $85 billion by 2030."
Pat Brown, the chief executive of Impossible Foods, has set a deadline to eliminate animal products from the global food supply by 2035. Brown's next project is to expand to other plant-based products, like fishless fish, and make inroads in China.
Impossible Foods has recently collaborated with the OSI Group, a global food processing firm, that can bring a larger distribution for their company. The OSI Group has also worked with McDonald's and Starbucks. Their plant-based meat vision has taken over the "meat" market. These startup companies have created such a disruption in the market to the point that major meat companies such as Tyson, Smithfield, Perdue, Hormel, and Nestle have all entered into the plant-based meat market.
The Good Food Institute, an advocate of plant-based food, commends the transition of the plant-based meat sector from niche to mainstream as the meat companies will be using their excessive channels of "meat" consumers.
Nestle released the Awesome Burger, which is meatless. Smithfield began a line of soy-based burgers, meatballs, and sausages. Hormel started offering plant-based ground meat.
We look forward to the many new plant-based options from all companies and are excited to officially go worldwide!
