With it being summer and school being out, why not talk about why you should attend Kansas State University? Many high school seniors and transfer students have already decided where they will be attending next school year, but did they choose the right school? Here are my top five reasons why you should attend Kansas State compared to the other schools around.

1. Family

This is something you hear a lot about when people talk about Kansas State. Personally, I feel like this is so true especially if you are really involved in campus organizations or are a big Kansas State fan. I know some people do not like that we use the word family, but I think that Kansas State for the most part really does act like a great big family. You really see it all over campus and in different organizations that you are associated with.

2. Purple

This is a big enough reason in itself. Purple is just an awesome color and why would you not want to see it everywhere you go? And by everywhere you go I really mean everywhere, but even if you are not a huge fan of the color it is 100 times better than seeing red and blue everywhere.....gross.

3. Campus

You cannot argue that Kansas State has one of the most beautiful campuses around. Any time of the year whether it is fall, winter, spring or summer campus always looks amazing. Travel + Leisure Magazine actually named Kansas State as the most beautiful college in Kansas. The criteria for the award was based on several things such as setting and scenery, building design, and upkeep of campus ground.

4. Manhattan

The town may be a little small for some, but I believe it is the perfect size for a college town. Not too small, but not too big. You can get around easily and like the campus, the town also has some amazing scenery. Manhattan, like the college campus, has won some awards itself. Such as top ten college towns to live in. The town also made it into the top 100 places to live according to Livability. This is all thanks to things like the scenery, the people, Aggieville, and so much more.

5. Athletics

I do not know about you but I am a huge sports fan, so I saved the best for last. Kansas State may not be the top dog in one particular sport, however, we are above average in the two biggest sports those being in men's basketball and football. In my opinion, I would much rather be pretty good in both with the ability to compete with anybody, rather than be completely dominate in one and completely suck in the other..not naming names or anything.

Kansas State has done some pretty awesome things in athletics like making it into the Elite Eight this year, and the football team has made it to eight consecutive bowl games. Hopefully, the Cats can step it up this year, I know I am prepared for an exciting football and basketball season.

With all that being said I hope you make the right choice for you in whatever school you choose.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
