Stop waiting for Friday, enough waiting for the weekend.
Stop wishing you could fast forward time. I know school can be overwhelming; I know waiting up for 6 a.m. lift is brutal to think about.
I know having practice the night before an exam can be exhausting but the amount of hours you have in each and every day remains the same.
24 hours. It takes 24 hours to fulfill an entire day’s worth of productivities that every person has.
You are the only one to decide what you do with those 24 hours and to waste 5 out of the 7 days of this eternal cycle. Just waiting for Friday morning to quickly come is beyond wasteful.
Here is what this concept boils down to: make the most of the time you have. Whatever goal you are aiming towards, no matter how big or small, the choice is yours.
Be naïve, tell yourself other people got ‘lucky’ and their success was easier to gain. Believe that and settle for what life hands to you.
OR, you can go the better route and tell yourself these 6 words any time you’re doubting the ability to do something; ‘everyone has the same twenty-four hours’.
Hour one. Did you know it only takes It only takes one hour of exercise per day to counter sedentary behavior? Did you know you only really need a 45 nap a day to feel rejuvenated?
How about that 20 minutes of yoga every day prevents stress and makes your immune system stronger?
Have you ever tried listening to music in the morning when you wake up or in between classes? Music not only improves our mental well-being but our memory as well.
It takes 21 days to create a habit, this could mean going from having a negative outlook on everything to using one day to think positively which will gradually make looking on the bright side second nature.
It takes as quickly as 30 seconds to pray for all of your blessings and to wish good health and happiness upon the people around us.
Wake up each morning with a seize the day attitude; be enthusiastic to see your friends for lunch, get ambitious for the rigorous workout you have, use your free time to watch an episode of your favorite show or get ahead on work.
Call your mom and ask her how her day is, go on a random late night Dunkin run with your friends to make the all-nighter a little less riveting. Go on an early morning run to get your day started, embrace the sunrise, go get breakfast.
You’ll make it through your 10 a.m. class; better yet, you’ll make it through an 8 a.m. class. You have all day to find time to nap.
Do the extra credit. Stay up the extra hour. Your grades mean so much; your self-respect and dignity mean so much. Do not sell yourself short, it won’t be easy to get what you want, but it will be worth it, so stop making excuses.
But also give yourself a break when you feel like you really need it, go out and drink on a Wednesday night, no one really cares. Release the stress, there’s always a tomorrow.
Look forward to dessert after dinner, treat yourself; life is hard, but luckily dessert is available any day of the week.
So why do we spend all our time waiting for two days of the week when a majority of our life revolves around how we use the other five?
I get it, going out is fun, sleeping in is so nice, having no worries until Sunday procrastination homework is great. But who says you can’t do what you love every day? The answer is no one.
Every hour of every day, you have the resources and the free will to do as you choose, to read a book and become an intellect, to gain insight on something you are interested in, to get better at a sport, to teach yourself how to play the piano, to go talk to that person you’ve been wanting to talk to, to explore, to get one step closer to achieving your goals.
For as long as this world remains, these 7 days co-exist and work together, there is no reason we should shut out the first 5 days only to let lose for only the weekend. Live in the now, do what you love and do it every day of your life, there are no restrictions to doing good for yourself.
