Spring weather has finally arrived in central Pennsylvania. Hopefully, the warmth of the sun has also reached your area. The sun is shining bright on most days as students are completing their last few weeks of school. Most college students just want their semester to be over as a weeks of final exams is quickly approaching. Trust me, I am in the same boat. I am still motivated, however, to finish out this semester strong. Therefore, one might ask how does a college student might balance their time outdoors while finishing off the last couple weeks of the semester.

I would like to emphasize that this is all a balancing act. If you walk through a very active campus like mine, you will see that a majority of the students hanging out either on the quad or a picnic table. Go join them. It is still possible to enjoy the nice weather and read that chapter that you have been putting off until the last minute.

During these final weeks, it is important to remember that you do not have to be consumed 24/7 with coursework. The 65 degree weather provides a great opportunity to take some time for yourself or hangout with a group of friends outside.

Most campuses have a nice pathway where one can take a walk or a jog. I have come to find myself this semester taking weekly jogs through a nearby park and then ending up by a nearby creek to clear my mind.

Throughout this stressful time of the year, it is also good to hangout with people instead of being by yourself. Find ways to spend time with your friends before summer break arrives. I suggest going to your campus café with a group of friends.

In conclusion, here are some ways to balance everything that the end of the semester has to offer; nice weather, the outdoors, and good friends.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
