Enjoy The Simple Things

Sometimes the simplest things are the best things life has to offer.

Enjoy The Simple Things
Alexx Chase

Over the past year or so, I have found that it is important to take pleasure in the simple things life has to offer. Those are usually some of the best and important things you will experience. Those are the moments where you’re hanging out with some of your favorite people just having fun and being you. Those are the moments where you don’t have to work to have a good time, it just happens naturally.

While I’ve been in college, I’ve tried to enjoy the little things to make my experience as good as it can be. It has definitely helped boost my mood and helped me enjoy being here even more. If I get stressed out, I just try to breathe it out and finish whatever needs to be done in hopes that I will be able to do something simple and relaxing soon after. This is something I’ve learned to appreciate. I’ve learned to appreciate the things that might not seem so important because they tend to become some of my favorite moments ever.

As I’m writing this, I’m enjoying a simple night in with my best friend and it’s already one of my favorite nights I’ve had in a while. We’ve gone from watching High School Musical 3 to dancing around the room to lying on the floor and jamming to music and it’s been nothing but fun. These are the kinds of nights I appreciate the most – when I don’t have to do anything but listen to my favorite music with some of my favorite people. I would usually take something like this for granted because it happens so often, but I have learned to appreciate these moments because someday I might not be able to spend my nights like this. I might not have my friends with me all of the time to do this and I might have to spend my time worrying about more important things.

That’s why I try my best to enjoy these simple moments because as rare or as often as they come, they’re some of the most important moments I have. They’re the moments that I’ll really want back one day when I can no longer do them as much. So, I do my best to enjoy the little things such as spending time with the people I love and doing small things that make me happy. Enjoying the little things makes you a much happier person because you don’t spend as much time worrying about the things that could go wrong. You focus on the things that make you happy. You focus on the simple things that may happen a lot and you may often take for granted but they make you happy, and that’s all that matters.

Your happiness is the most important thing, so do whatever you can to be happy. Enjoy eating meals with your family. Enjoy hearing or seeing your loved ones doing things that make them happy. Enjoy spending time with the people you love and appreciate. Enjoy every great moment that you’ve ever taken for granted because someday, you’ll really be missing those things. You’ll wish that you did focus on the simple things because those really are some of the most important things you’ll experience. Those are the things that are so easy to take for granted but some of the things that you should appreciate the most. Those are the things that make you the best version of yourself so enjoy them.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
