Enjoy The Little Things

Everyone experiences stress and focuses so much on things that don't really matter. Instead of doing this, we should try to just enjoy the little things in life. We miss the little things when our lives are always moving so fast. It's important to try and give yourself a break sometimes and pay attention to things you enjoy in life. This is hard to do but I believe it is very valuable. Here are a few of the little things in life that I enjoy.

1. Making someone smile.

This I would say is one of the better feelings. Knowing that you just made someone happy enough to smile or said something that made their day better is something I appreciate.

2. Rainy Days at my cabin.

There is nothing better than sitting on my closed in porch at my cabin watching the raindrops race down the windows and into the lake.

3. Hugs.

For just that 30 seconds or minute that I'm being hugged, I get the feeling that nothing can go wrong in the world and that is one of the best feelings.

4. Long nights spent with my favorite people in the world.

I wouldn't trade a thing for the long and fun nights I spend with my family and friends, making some of the best memories.

5. Days in the sun

I absolutely love spending days outside with nothing to do but enjoy the day.

6. Being confident in yourself

When you finally find some confidence in yourself, it feels amazing.

7. Long phone calls

I love talking to someone for a long time and still having enough to say hours later.

8. Tea

Nothing better than a hot cup of tea after a long day.

9. Fireplaces

I absolutely love sitting by the fireplace with my family around Christmas.

10. Disney Movies

Disney movies never get old and will always be appreciated.

11. When my cat crawls in my lap

I love when my cat enjoys being with me and decides he actually wants to be pet before biting my hand.

12. Getting packages in the mail

Theres always something exciting about recieving a package in the mail even if you know exactly what it is.

13. Hand written cards

I love when people take the time to write a long message in a card for you. Makes you feel like you are special.

14. Fridays

Nothing better than waking up and realizing it's the last day of the school week.

15. Driving around with no place to go

Driving around with no destination is the best way to find things you didn't even know you were looking for. Having no plans is what is so great about summer, you can just enjoy the time you have with the people you love.

I could probably go on for days but these are just a few of the little things I enjoy.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
