Majority of your great memories will be in high school. By time you graduate and move out of your home, you will want to relive the high school days. First of all, don’t forget your best friends who helped you created many great times, like ranting in lunch hours and making silly faces while walking down the school hall. They are your backbone through high school especially when you have a case of “senioritis” or when you get accused for being too loud by the librarian, they stand up for you. Let’s also not forget the time when the active girls in physical education were kicking your butt in games, but you still got your amigos to be your cheerleaders. You won’t get cheerleaders in college or in the future. Absorb all those little moments because when you and your best friends get together, you will look back and laugh at those memories.
Don’t forget your high school job! Yes, I did say that. I thought I would never say that, but if you have fun and close coworkers, they are the best people to help you get through your shifts. From spilling mayo all over you to coworkers scaring you while taking garbage out, you will look back and laugh. It helps you builds work ethic and dealing with people. Plus, a little amount of money can’t hurt when you need gas to ride around on backroads. We all don’t like customers, but it helps you show more respect wherever you order your food or buy something.
Don’t forget your teammates. Your teammates helped you through tough games and tough coaches. During practices, they help you bust your butt and give you encouragement. You won’t be having as many people to give you encouragement once you are sobbing while writing a 10 page essay in college. Take all the support and encouragement you can before graduating.
Last, don’t forget yourself. In high school, you are supposed be young and free. This is the time if your life to discover yourself and what made who you are. When you graduate, you will be worrying about what you want to do in the future, and paying bills for your crappy apartment. You will get so busy trying to catch up with life that you’ll have a couple moments where you forget to text your best friend back, meeting up with the people you love, and sometimes forget to take care of yourself. Stress will eat you up, and that is why you need to learn how to take care of yourself. Enjoy those weekend gatherings in barns, long talks on backroads, laughing when kool-ade comes out of your best friend’s nose before you and your friends depart to different routines and lives. When graduation comes, make sure you say your goodbyes to your classmates before walking into the ceremony, and when your principal says your class of year, throw your mortarboards (graduation caps) high as you can. Your high school chapter is over once you walk out of that gym one last time, and the new exciting chapter will open.
