I'm sure you know that girl...You know the type. The one with her ring picked out, a Pinterest wedding board with over 200+ pins and has threatened her boyfriend to make sure there is a photographer, videographer, her nails are done and it's in a cute location. I was one of those girls, but I'll tell you I'm so glad our engagement didn't go as planned. It makes it so special and unique.

I woke up like any other day, Ian was already at work. I woke up, turned on the shower...got naked and went to grab our bath mat from the dryer. (The bathmat was in the dryer because our cat threw up on it) Aren't cats great? As I was grabbing the bathmat...I heard someone opening our apartment door. Let me remind you, I WAS BUTT NAKED. I didn't remember having maintenance come or anything like that...panicking I wrapped that stupid bathmat around my body and hid the best I could around the corner from the door. The door opens, and closes...I knew it was Ian. I looked him, dressed in a perfect suit, a perfect bouquet of flowers, staring at me...and there I was, naked, wrapped in a bath mat...(winning). I knew what was going on at that point and said, "OMG let me put on a robe" he laughed and said, "this is not how I imagined this going." We went in our room; I grabbed my rode and Ian told me some of the sweetest things I've ever heard and asked me to be his wife. I said YES, YES, YES. Once we both stopped crying out of joy, we laughed over what had just transpired.

You want to know what was so great about it? It was a personal moment between us, we laughed, we cried, it was magical. No need for self-gratification from social media, family of friends.

Don't put so much pressure on yourself or your partner, what is meant to be...will be.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
