How To Make Energy Drink Jello

This jello is a must for people who want extra energy but aren't really in the mood to drink it.

So, it was finals week, and I was fixin' for something other than a drinkable energy thing. I began to think, what else is there that is like an energy drink but isn't actually a drink? I looked around my room, and then my eyes rested on my big box of gummy bears: I can make Jello!

I gathered some supplies and began experimenting ... and I think I have done it! I have succeeded in creating energized gelatin! Muahahaha!

If you are interested in creating your own energy drink beaut, then let us gather our supplies and begin! Finals will not study for themselves.

Note: As a disclaimer, energy drinks are not for everyone, and I have noticed that the jello does amplify the effects of the drink, so do this at your own discretion!

1. Gather your supplies

You will need:

A sauce pan

A mixing apparatus (I use a fork, but a spoon works just as well)

A bowl for mixing gelatin

A measuring cup

1 oz. of unflavored gelatin––I use 4 packets of the stuff (Fun tip: if you want more flavor, you can also substitute the unflavored gelatin with already-flavored jello to enhance the flavor of the drink! I noticed that lime jello works best with Monster and lemon jello with Red Bull.)

4 cups (32 oz.) of your favorite energy drink (I use Monster, but I won't judge if you use something else)

A form to put your jello into (gummy bear form, a bowl, etc.)

2. Boil 3 cups (24 oz.) of your energy drink

You may be wondering how the gelatin will work if the water is carbonated, right? Do not worry reader, for it is simple chemistry. Carbonated water is water with carbon dioxide mixed in; when the water is cold it can hold a lot of carbon dioxide, but when it is heated up the carbon dioxide is released. This is why warm pop is flat! So, by boiling the energy drink, we de-carbonate the water and allow the gelatin to solidify evenly—it's a double win!

3. Combine 0.75 oz. (3 packets) gelatin and 1 cup (8 oz.) cold energy drink in a mixing bowl

I would start by pouring in the energy drink first, then adding the gelatin. The reason I would do this is that the gelatin fizzes when it combines with the energy drink. Also, it seems that adding gelatin to carbonated water seems to de-carbonate it, so you really don't have to worry about carbonation here, either!

Mix the gelatin until it looks like this, then move on!

4. Combine gelatin-energy drink mix into boiling energy drink

The gelatin is sometimes very hard to get out of the bowl, so you may want to use a scraper to get the rest of it out! Once it is all in the sauce pan, use a stirring apparatus to break up any chunks that may form in the gelatin. You should mix until the energy drink-gelatin mixture has no chunks!

5. Put in form, and let sit for 10 minutes

Pour the stuff into a bowl, and let it sit!

6. Chill for 30 minutes in freezer

It will solidify during this time. Make sure to keep the top off of your form!

While you're waiting, find something to do: watch Netflix, text your friends, play guitar ... just anything rather than studying. The reason you're making this in the first place is to stay up later to study anyways, am I right?

Ok, maybe you should study...

7. Enjoy!

It is finished! Now continue studying, and you will totally ace those exams.

Happy finals!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
