There’s no man who can keep a secret as well as Frank Ocean. For years, fans have been eagerly waiting and watching for any sign of the artist. Now fans finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel, as Ocean revealed a piece of the puzzle with the release of his contemplative visual album Endless.
Ocean released Endless as a teaser for his new album, but the two projects are entirely separate, according to Rolling Stone. There’s no doubt that Ocean has something brilliant in the works, and at least fans can have a taste of the magic while they continue waiting for the long overdue follow-up to Channel Orange.
Channel Orange shook the musical world with its release in 2012, and since then, fans have been waiting anxiously for his next move. Orange’s silky smooth vocals and carefully crafted lyrics made their mark on the R&B world, and there’s no doubt that his next project will do the same.
While it’s true that Rome wasn’t built in a day, the album is now over a year past due, leaving fans wondering, “so what gives, Frank?” Ocean’s mysterious hints continue to stir up a conversation. Tentative cover art for the new album has surfaced, but fans are still waiting for the music that Chance the Rapper deemed “a masterpiece.” In July, Ocean released a teaser graphic in the form of a library due date slip. The slip was marked with random dates, any of which could have been the release date of the album.
Not only is the release date extremely vague, but the name of the album is also up for debate. While originally expected to be called “Boy’s Don’t Cry,” Ocean has duped fans, yet again. As confirmed by Rolling Stone in their interview with the artist, he has scrapped the original title, and will supposedly be releasing his new album this weekend on iTunes. The title is anyone’s guess, but there’s no doubt that the album will be a hit.
