I am not someone who grew up reading comics, but I do love movies. Over the last few years, I have watched almost all 22 of the Marvel superhero movies. I have grown up with them, from their solo movies that gave us their origin stories up until the newly released "Avengers: Endgame."
No need to fear, no spoilers can be found here. I have no interest in spoiling the movie for anyone who has yet to immerse themselves in the experience of this movie. I will say that "Endgame" really made me feel a stronger connection to its fictional characters than any other movie in a while. It made me laugh and it made me cry many times throughout the viewing.
The movie masterfully balanced comedic humor and intense moments between the characters.
It is so hard to say goodbye to the Avengers. By that, I mean the original six: Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, and Black Widow.
Besides all the feels that came over me while watching this movie, I found myself caught up in some deep thought. I was curious how the Avengers would defeat Thanos, but the biggest question when I first got to the theater was how are the Avengers who were vanquished after Thanos' snap going to return.
The Russo brothers anticipated every possible question moviegoers would have. They answered them all and gave us even more storyline than expected—or at least I thought they did.
"Infinity War" broke hearts when many audience favorites disappeared at the film's end. I was really disappointed Thanos got his wish until I knew there was one more movie to come.
I can honestly say I am satisfied with the ending for the entire film saga of the Avengers. The character development of particular heroes reaches its highest point because they get the necessary push to make this last chance their 1-in-14 million shot at winning. I loved how the movie does not entirely focus on getting revenge on Thanos, but instead on being in control of their future.
The Avengers are not only fighting for themselves, but for the betterment of several universes. The world is small compared to the rest of the universe, and this film reminded us that there is still so much we don't know about. The audience is reminded of how each person is only a small piece of a larger machine.
This movie also really portrayed a lot of female characters and diversity among them.
The women were strong and fierce. They were not to be messed with and play a huge role in the final battle to end the war.
This movie does not just entertain, it inspires.
"Endgame," unlike the rest of the MCU, redefines a hero. The movie showed us that a superhero can be more things than ever before.
However, they reminded us that "hero" is still just a label.
"Avengers: Endgame" is a must-see movie for every one of all ages. I highly recommend, but even more importantly, there are so many life lessons that we can carry with us in our own lives long after the credits roll.
