Here it is again, the final weeks of the semester. Mixed feelings are in the air; not being able to fathom leaving your friends, and your college town for three months. Your apartment feels like home, and the nostalgia of leaving is setting in. You know your family is eagerly waiting for your arrival back home, and your dogs tail will wack you so hard with excitement when you walk through that door. Yet, you're still conflicted (or at least I am).
I'm getting ahead of myself here. Students' anxiety is through the roof, realizing "hey uh there is only three weeks until finals, that's not enough time to increase the percentage of my grade." Finals anxed is here, even almost a month away. Our professors remind us not to beg for a grade bump at the end of the semester, and we roll our eyes in contempt.
There is no more school work, unless you are taking summer classes, but a new type of work comes upon us: "real" work. Summer internships take up most of our time, or the summer job at the restaurant you worked at in high school. Its a cluster f*ck. We want to have fun and spend time with our friends, but when you realize you are no longer a freshman in college, but rather entering your junior year in the fall, your future starts to seem real. Very real.
The reality of it is that there are only three weeks left of school. There's this mindset that you NEED to take advantage of that. You NEED to go out every night, and you NEED to accept every opportunity to hang out with your ~squad~ because soon you'll all be in different cities, not just a few feet away or a quick walk down College Ave. We make sure to get all of our work done before nine o'clock in order to be able to have enough time to shower and do our hair, but still make it to the pre-festivities.
With this in mind, we all know how to find balance. Do your homework, raise that 89.4% and cherish the last few weeks with your friends. You will make it through finals, and remember, coffee is a magical thing. Whether you're working or just planning on having a relaxing summer, be safe, and have fun.
Football season is near, and always: Go Noles!
