The End Of The Semester As Told By "The Walking Dead"

Anyone who has seen "The Walking Dead" is prepared for the apocalypse. Not only did they teach us how to destroy zombies, they also taught us some life lessons.

School can be compared to the apocalypse? Hmm, I'm sensing a trend here..

1. Trying to get through the semester like.

The walks to class have become longer. The clock stops moving (like almost completely) during classes. The work is piling up. Here we are just trying to get through it all.

2. One word. Laundry.

Where on earth did this all come from? Has it always been in my dorm? Oh, that reminds me. I need to go get my stuff out of the dryer.

3. Ramen for one?

At this point, we are all just trying to survive. Let's face it, on a college student's budget, we have to get creative.

4. Trying to describe school.

There are only so many lies you can tell about school. (The college life is great. It's filled with so many new experiences...) Then the stress, lies, pain, agony, and torture of school just take over. (I have slept a solid three hours in the past two days)

5. Stay in school.

I know we are all trying to think of ways to justify getting out of college. So many thoughts can cross our minds. (But maybe I can just change my name and move away.)

6. Getting our lives together.

Where did all these decisions come from? I want to know -- who is making me grow up? I don't like it.

7. When people ask you how you did on the test.

You never tell! Unless they failed too -- then it's just an instant friendship that may or may not last for eternity.

8. When your parents ask you how school is going.

Oh school? Yeah, it's just great as usual. But we'll never tell them about our grades, the classes we've skipped, the note we've missed.

9. To those teachers who are adding on assignments.

No thank you, I've had enough. I am done. No more school.

10. You can't write this paper the day before it's due.

Why do professors even say that anymore? They should know who we are by now.

11. Those late night pep talks.

Everyone has had one with themselves. Sometimes you just need a little motivation to get you through.

12. That teacher who curves the final grades.

You are the best. Sometimes we just need a little break. Or a lot of help.

13. Staying up all night to study for a test.

At first it always seems like a logical idea. Until the sun rises, the birds start chirping, and you realize now that you may actually go to class like a zombie.

14. Those teachers who give finals on a Saturday.

You don't want to be here any more than I do! So just do us a favor and move the final. (Or just give me the "A" that I may or may not deserve.)

15. We're almost done though.

Remember, soon you will have home cooked meals. You will sleep in your own bed. You will not have to worry about homework or classes. It's almost time to relax. Everyone deserves it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
