End-Of-Semester Struggles As Portrayed By GIFs

It's the middle of April already?!! No way. Wasn't it January, like, 3 days ago?? How can it be that we go home for the Summer in just a few weeks?!

It's hard to believe how far we've gotten in the semester (and nope, don't wanna even think about how quickly finals are approaching). Can we please go back to syllabus week already? Not only is the busiest part of the semester right around the corner, but sadly so is having to say goodbye to your college friends for the summer (unless you're lucky and they live nearby at home!). But although the end of the semester means temporary separation from your friends, campus, and college life for the next few months, summer brings good weather, longer days, more freedom, and a lot of fun times!

Naturally, nearing the end of the semester makes one feel such a roller coaster of emotions, which is obviously best expressed in GIFs that will make you say "lol that is so me". So if you wanna run and hide from finals, and simultaneously cry about leaving your friends while also getting excited about the summer to come, you're definitely going to relate to these reaction GIFs representing the stages of how you feel at the end of the semester!!

1. "Did you say it's APRIL already??"

Lol, WHAT?? Just over here livin' your best carefree life, and then you look at the calendar and everything changes...

2. When you realize how quickly deadlines for everything are coming up...

Remember all those assignments you thought you had months to work on? Well, it turns out they're due in a week, so you can't hide from your problems any longer, and oh yeah, don't forget about studying for finals too! So bye!! I'll be in the library for the rest of eternity if you need me!

3. "Okay, we only have a few weekends left, so let's make every moment count!"

When you count out the weekends you actually have left on campus with your friends, you start to realize that you only have so many more nights left to go out and be your crazy selves together, so gotta fit it all in now before the year's over!!

4. "NBD, only have about 5 million things to do and study before the year is over!! Not stressed at all!"

You better be a champ at multitasking, because everything that piles up at the end-of-semester can hit you hard. Between applying for summer jobs or internships, registering for housing and classes, studying for finals, final assignments, social life, and end-of-semester events for extracurriculars, this is truly one of the most jam-packed times of the year, and you'll find yourself cramming to get everything done at once while also trying to keep your chill and enjoy your last few weeks.

5. Walking out of your last final like...

The damage is done, your hard work has (hopefully) paid off, and now you're FREE FOR THE SUMMER!!! Forget all your academic woes and burdens. It's all behind you now and you can put it out of mind for the next few months to enjoy yourself!!

6. The Last Supper with your friends

When you realize it's your last night either going out together or just grabbing dinner at the dining hall with your best friends, it's pretty hard to handle. In fact, all of April and May will sadly be period full of "lasts" for this school year. Even though you'll be back soon enough in the Fall, a whole summer away from your favorite people is pretty painful to think about, and things will definitely get emotional AF pretty quickly (cue everyone crying while saying "I just love you guys so much" between sobs).

7. Waking up on move-out day

"I don't want to leave!! Can't we just stay here and have fun now that classes are over?!"

8. "SO much to pack up UGHH!"

If you think packing to go home for break is stressful, try packing up basically your entire life and leaving a space you've lived in for the past 9 months clean and spotless. Moving out of your dorm can be incredibly overwhelming, so make sure you've got someone to help out!!

8. "See ya in 3 months!! I'm OUT!"

Goodbyes are always bittersweet, but who doesn't look forward to the summer?! And even though three months away from your friends may be long, that'll make the reunion in the Fall that much more special! So enjoy summer to the fullest and don't rush it away, but just know that August and September will be here before you know it, and you'll get to do the whole school year over again!!

Good luck with the end of the semester, everyone!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
