Summer is already half way over. It's hard to believe this time next month school starts back and not far after, fall is here. As much as fall is a beloved time, nothing is better than summer. One thing that makes summer so great is the fashion. Bright colors, shorts, tank tops, etc. It truly is the greatest time of year for fashion. Although summer is coming to an end, there is still plenty of time to wear these cute outfits. Below are some of the different pieces that are really in this season. There is also a description of what you can wear the pieces with. Ready to find out the hottest fashion looks for summer (no pun intended) just keep reading...

The first look is this white dress. Off-the-shoulder dresses are really in right now, as well as the color white. You can pair this dress with pretty much anything. Brown sandals would go great. You can add accessories like the glasses seen in the picture and maybe a straw hat. The white really allows anything to go with it.

These loose, tying shorts are great for summer. They will not make you feel hot, and you can pair them with any kind of shirt. The colors work great as well but any color and pattern with this shorts style will be great. The best thing to pair these shorts with is a white T-shirt, maybe v-neck. The shoe that would look the best are espadrilles.

These two things together are easily the most popular looks of the sumner. The embroidery pattern seen on the dress is really in and can be found in shirt form as well. The print is so cute and gives you a greek vibe that is perfect for summer. The shoes with pom poms are also really popular. Again, the pom poms can be found on bags, shirts, shorts, really anything. Together, they go great and really add two different looks to one outfit which is great!

Matching pieces are another great thing for summer. It always makes you look put together and ready to go. You don't have to have a skirt and shirt like above, you can do short and shirt as well. It's a great option and is easy to pick out. Depending on what color and pattern you get, the shoes will go accordingly. Converse is a cute option for the matching looks.

The last outfit comes straight from J.Crew. The reason I picked this outfit is mainly for the shirt. The peplum style, with the gingham print, is one of the biggest trends. The shorts and shoes are cute with the shirt, but you can style however you like. The shoes are another big trend, with the pointy toe and wrap around the ankle.

All these looks go with different styles and preferences. These are not all the summer trends, but are some of the biggest this year. One thing about style is it should always be 100 percent you, so style these looks the way you want to. Fashion is a great, empowering thing if you let it. Try some of these looks out and if you want post a picture on social media using #odysseysumma16. We'd love to see your own interpretation of these trends. Here's to endless summers and cute outfits!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
