End in Sight

I am finally quarter of the way there. Today marks the last day of the first eight weeks of the semester. After today, I only have three more eight-week periods until I graduate. I am ready to graduate but also think it will be weird when the time comes to not be going to class daily. It means lacrosse will soon be over and no more seeing my friends around campus every day.

School is almost over. I keep telling myself to ignore that I graduate this year because I know senioritis will kick into high gear next semester. This semester I have kept up with doing assignments and turning them in when they are due, maybe even before they are due.

One thing that will make homework difficult next semester is knowing my trip is happening sooner. I graduate on May second and fly to Barcelona, Spain on May 5. I know it will be harder to focus knowing I graduate then have to start my professional career. I like knowing that before I graduate that I will most likely have a career soon after.

Looking around, either more people are getting engaged now or I am just now realizing it. A few of my friends are already engaged or they are slowing getting engaged. Other friends are either engaged or already married. One of my really good friends got married and has a baby. I think it is interesting seeing how people are getting engaged and hearing how the guy proposed to make it super romantic.

Every now and then I think about how people focus on school when they are engaged when they get engaged in the middle of a school year. Granted, Pinterest has worked wonders when it comes to planning a wedding and giving girls ideas on what they want at their wedding and what they do not want at their weddings. People are also more likely to look up things on Pinterest for do it yourself things so people could find ways to save money on their weddings.

With the end in sight, it is important to focus on school and only school. It is best to only focus on things that are truly important. Whether it is applying to jobs or working on school projects. Some people see their priorities different than others and finding a happy medium can become difficult. Some people focus on school and their sport and that is about it. Others tend to focus on little things such as fantasy football or keeping up with their favorite sport. Believe me, I love St. Louis sports as much as the next person, but I do not let it take priority when it comes to doing homework.

Focus on school and what is most important to you. Focus on homework and projects. Focus on working getting a job lined up after the end of the year. Focus on getting a job, whether it is a summer job or a career. Try finding a job that is in your degree field or work on getting internships and finding a way to get your foot in the door.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
