With beautiful, insightful women like Lupita Nyong'o, Jennifer Lawrence, and Malala Yousafzai taking a stand for women's rights, they have really created a platform to empower women more. With their positive stories, they have both liberated women to fight for what they want to, as well as educate them on what they should be fighting for. As women, we need to know how to love ourselves, how to be ourselves, and how to positively empower other women.
There is a quote from Taylor Swift that really gives women an incentive to try to be a better person, and it states: "Other women who are killing it should motivate you, thrill you, challenge you and inspire you." To me, this quote means that you should never be content with the kind of person you are. As a woman, you should always try to improve upon the type of person you are, to try to become the type of person you are striving to be.
To become an empowered woman, you need to first redefine how you perceive yourself. If you have poor self-image or poor habits, really rethink the way those things impact yourself. Your mental and physical health is the most important thing, and if there are negative outlying factors that are impact that, you need to make a positive change. Learn to think about yourself in a positive manner, and to treat your body the proper way.
It is said that women in today's ever-changing society are becoming the men that they want to marry, and I think that is a great thing. In order to become an empowered woman, you need to know that you do not need a man to complete you. You need to know how to be independent and self-reliant. There is something so freeing about being single and being able to be the type of woman that you want to be without being influenced by a man. Raise your daughters to hustle like a man so that she will never need to become dependent on one. At the point of life that I am at right now, if it is not making me money or making me better, then I don't have time for it... And that includes a man.
As women, we need to always be trying to empower other women. Even just a simple compliment to another women can brighten her day and inspire her to do the same to someone else. Strong women who are the ones who try to build one another up, instead of trying to tear one another down. Women forget how much we can inspire, because no one understands what it is like to be a women but us.
Empowered women do not play victim, but instead try to improve themselves with every mistake they make. The next time you are thinking of making a change to be a better woman, remember this quote by Amelia Earhart: "The most effective way to do it, is to do it."
