Sometimes, for a reason that we cannot explain, we tend to accept less than we deserve. We do that in our work environment, with our friendships, relationships, with anything that ends up catching our attention.

I love watching people and how they behave. It amazes me how some people master the art of manipulation, while others, it does not matter how cruel you are to them, all they can do is to give love. They are entitled givers. They will give you their time, attention, and shoulder so you can cry on. They are that type that you can rely on.

If you like to have control of everything, if you think the world turns around you, this message maybe won´t touch you. On the other hand, if you are a giver, you will understand when I say that can hurt, but also, sharing and spreading love, it can be one of the most rewarding things ever.

I have as my personal goal to spread kindness wherever I go. I don´t force it, I don´t fake it, but there is something special while watching someone smiling that fires my soul. I´m not a clown, I´m terrible with jokes and puns, but if you are happy, bum, you made my day!

We all have tough phases where we cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel, it is simply not there. When you reached the bottom, when there wasn´t any hope, any solution, I believe you had that person that held your hand, lifted you up, and stayed by your side until you crossed the light. I believe that when you had that brilliant idea or that dream, or wherever meant the world to you, someone was there for you, cheering you up, cleaning up your mess, making you see that you are capable, and your idea was good. They made you feel that you are worth their time. And making someone feel that they are worth it is so powerful. It shows love, trust, and strength.

I started saying that for an unknown reason we trap ourselves around some people that simply don´t see that we are there, and this can be toxic. It can drain you. It can make us want to give up. But I am going to ask you: don´t, don´t give up. Our world is the way it is because people are giving up. People are giving up on people, on important causes, on the nature, on love.

Givers, I know it sucks sometimes, trust me. It doesn’t matter how hard you try, that “thank you”, that “I appreciate you” won´t come, and when this happens, don´t give up. Look at this for a different perceptive. God loved and loves us endlessly, and He asks us to do the same. Of course, because we are humans, we don´t have the same love capacity, but if you can see something good, some potential in someone, lift this person up, empower his or her ideas. Be that person that can be the differential in someone´s life. Not for the tap on the back, or for the recognition. But because the world needs more of us. Share love, kindness, happiness, and hope.

By empowering people, you are empowering yourself. By inspiring people, you will be inspired by them. Be that person for somebody, and I can guarantee you, that even though it makes you feel used sometimes, making the difference in somebody´s life is a tremendous gift.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
