Our current society does not feel empathy. Empathy is dead. We have homeless on the streets, there are benches being made to turn into spikes at certain times or when the meter runs out. This is unfair treatment to the less advantaged. People walk pass who are asking for money to eat or get a drink of water. Now it is a possibility that they will use it for drugs or alcohol, but most just want a meal. Another issue could be that you do not have any money to give and could be poor yourself. Or you do not carry cash often. Those are two valid reasons to not help them out.

The homeless are treated like they are invisible and crooked people. Most have mental issues that are going untreated because of their situation. Ignoring them, or in some cases, throwing stuff at them does not help them at all. Some people kick and hit homeless people because they find joy in their pain. Being rude does not do anything but make them seem like a disgrace to the human race. Being homeless is a domino effect; they slowly spiral into chaos while they loose everything.

This is a cruel reality for many people around the world that do not have a place to sleep.

Another way cities are trying to hinder the homeless from sleeping is to put arm rests so nobody can lie down.

People today do not feel for other people unless it only concerns themselves. Greed and selfishness affects their lives, and act like they are better than others. Some laugh when others are in pain or put in a bad situation. It can happen to anyone. You could be next. Most people do not think they will not be homeless, or it will never impact them or their famalies. We are all human. We are all brothers and sisters. We must help each other out in the time of need.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
