My Many Emotions As Told By Cher Horowitz

Why am I the way that I am?

At the moment, I am going through a whirlwind of emotions and I feel them all at once. These emotions all vary from each other, but there are specific reasons as to why I feel the way I do. Cher Horowitz, from Clueless, can accurately represent my emotions and why I feel them better than I can in writing, in gifs. Hopefully someone, somewhere, can relate to how I feel and help me figure out my emotions!

1. I feel proud

I'm proud because I'm almost done with my second year of college. I am happy with everything that I have gotten through and accomplished, and I can't wait to see where the summer takes me (literally, because I am studying abroad)!

2. I feel exhausted

This one seems simple, but I am SO tired. I'm physically tired, as I walk everywhere, and I'm mentally tired because of school. I also just seem to have a terrible sleep schedule.

3. I feel stressed

I'm stressed about what the new school year will bring, and I'm stressed about how I will finish up this school year. Stress is probably the emotion that I've felt the most!

4. I feel excited

I'm so excited for what the future brings! I'm always excited to start a new day, or a new project. I'm always in the mood for something exciting and new to happen.

5. I feel lonely

This is definitely something I feel quite often. I think it's mostly because I spend a lot more time alone now than I ever have in the past. While alone time is great, I don't love being lonely. I just like being surrounded by people and love 24/7!

6. I feel happy

I'm happy because I'm at my dream school doing what I love! I'm surrounded by people I love and people who support me, so the happiness lingers on.

7. I feel secure

For one of the first times in my life, I can confidently say that I don't feel insecure about anything at the moment. Of course, I'm not completely confident, but I have definitely improved a lot from the past.

8. I feel nervous

New things are happening in my life, and new things are about to happen in my life. Most of them, I've never experienced before, or they ended badly the first time around. I'm nervous about what these events will bring to my life, and if they will change my life.

9. I feel impatient

I just want my life to speed up already. I'm ready to be successful, even though I'm still not even sure of how I will get there. I want to skip the process of making myself successful and just be successful already.

10. I feel clueless

I feel literally everything. I have a lot of emotions, okay? I don't know how to deal with them. Don't judge me. I'm a Pisces, what can I say?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
