Have you ever had trouble captioning a game day post, or have struggled to add some zest to a PSU tweet? All Penn Staters have been there, and with the largest alumni network in the world, we deserve some love from the emoji world. After all, there are 99,133 active students throughout the state.

Here are the five PSU emojis we need in our lives NOW. Just imagine your 'gram game...

1. The Nittany Lion

It goes without saying; the best mascot in the world deserves his own emoji. Recently, inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame, this guy encompasses all it means to have PSU spirit. Whether he is doing push-ups on the field during a game, having photo-ops with kids or hyping us up at pep rallies, you can't resist the lovable nature of our lion.

2. The Berkey Creamery

Did someone say Death by Chocolate? Everyone at Penn State knows that the creamery has the best ice cream in the world. Established in 1865, and located on campus, this staple has created over 100 flavors of ice cream and houses the Food Science department at Penn State. So fresh, it's just about 48 hours from cow to cone! A cute ice cream pic with this emoji popped in the caption? Perfection. FUN FACT: In 1978, Ben and Jerry attended a $5 course in ice cream making at Penn State.

3. Pokey Stix

Ah, truly a Penn State staple. Gumby's Pokey Stix have a special place in the heart of Penn Staters everywhere. After a football game, while you're studying, or when you come home from a night out, there is literally no bad time for the pizza-breadstick hybrid.

Pro Tip: Pokey Stix Tuesdays offer medium Pokies for just $7.

4. The HUB

The HUB, or the Hetzel Union Building, is at the heart of Penn State's campus. I, admittedly, spend most of my time there, whether it be grabbing something to eat, studying with friends, or just passing through. This massive - and architecturally impressive, may I add - building definitely has earned its right to be on our phones because of its huge popularity among students.

5. Four Diamonds hands

Last, but certainly not least, on the list of Penn State emojis we need are Four Diamonds hands. If there is anything that Penn Staters universally agree is awesome, it is THON. Our 46-hour Dance Marathon to combat Pediatric Cancer is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, with about 16,500 student volunteers. It greatly unites us in pursuit of a noble cause and deserves ALL the emojis. Imagine the social media presence these would have! Let's make it happen.

Take notes Apple, here at Penn State, we have some ideas for your next update.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
