I chimed in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?!"

Your Emo Phase Returns At Emo Nite LA

For most people, their "emo phase" is a time in their life they'd rather forget. They delete their myspace and throw away their rubber band bracelets from Hot Topic. But, for some, Emo Nite can bring back memories and a way to jam out to some of their favorite music from the 90s and 2000s.

Emo nite is for everyone. Even though it is called emo night they play other similar types of music like alternative rock, alternative pop, pop-punk, and punk. So even if you aren't a ride or die fan of emo music you can still have a good time. You will hear mainstream music you've heard a million times on the radio like Fall Out Boy, "Mr. Brightside" by the Killers and "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson.

Always, I know you'll be at my show (The Beginning)

Emo Nite began in Los Angeles by co-founders TJ Petracca, Morgan Freed and Babs Szabo. It all began in in 2014 at a birthday party attended by Petracca and Szabo when they sang a Dashboard Confessional song together at karaoke. They asked each other, "What if we could listen to this when we went out?”

Then, it turned into "Taking Back Tuesday," playing the first Tuesday of each month at the Echoplex in Echo Park. Taking Back Sunday's frontman Adam Lazzara did not enjoy the homage to his band. He told Billboard magazine, "I don’t want to become a parody of something I take real seriously. That’s the line that these people are walking... You don’t make shirts that say ‘Sad as Fuck.’ Like you’re making a fucking joke out of it? Fuck you.” That's where they got the idea for the Sad as Fuck merchandise that they sell online and at performances. As well as the balloons scattered around the venues they play that say "Sad AF."

And we'll never miss a party cause we keep them going constantly (The Future)

They then changed the name to Emo Nite and began touring all across the country but still managing to do the first Tuesday over every month in L.A. They also have a store for their company and an online shop. Also, they have just started a podcast that features bands and artists they feature at their parties.

If you're lucky one of the artists you're singing along to or other celebrities to will show up to guest DJ your show. Past guest DJ's include Neck Deep, All Time Low's Jack Barakat, My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way, members of Fidlar, Dashboard Confessional, and Machine Gun Kelly.

Dance, this is the way they'd love, If they knew how misery loved me

If you think you'd enjoy singing until your voice gives out, drinking cheap beer, dancing on stage, and listening to the music that formed who you are today I would recommend going to Emo Nite next time they stop in your city.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
