My dad has introduced me to a lot of things during my lifetime—foods, the university I ended up attending and even a second language. Of all the things he's introduced me to, though, what I enjoy most are the TV shows and movies. In particular, I love "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", which streams on Amazon. If the show's Emmys wins for Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actress, Supporting Actress, Directing, and Comedy Writing did not convince you to watch the show, here are five compelling reasons to watch.

1. There's a female lead.

Representation matters, especially when the character is a mother, Jewish woman and comic. "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" dropped last November amidst the heat of the #MeToo movement. The show about a newly-separated single woman who is struggling to become a stand-up comedian in a male-dominated late-1950's world. Actress Rachel Brosnahan gives life to this newly separated housewife who is finally doing something for herself.

2. The writing is actually funny.

Giphy

If the writing wasn't funny, I would not recommend this show to all of you. It is a lighthearted comedy, great for the whole family to watch together. Like I said before, the show just won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

3. The second season hasn't started yet so you have time to catch up.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has not revealed the Season Two drop date for her eight-Emmy winning comedy series. You can expect to see the second season on Amazon by the end of the year. This gives you the opportunity to catch up on the first season, which was released last November. That way, you can binge-watch both seasons of the show and stay up to date.

4. The representation of the 1950's

Giphy

Mrs. Maisel, better known as "Midge" in the show, has a closet and sense of style that is definitely something to be envious of. The show is set in the 1950's but the themes still remain important today—Midge is a feminist icon. The screen glows with color and takes viewers back to the '50's.

5. The fact that Amy Sherman-Palladino created this show.

Giphy

This show was created by the same brilliant mind behind "Gilmore Girls." Amy Sherman-Palladino brings another show forth with a strong female lead and lighthearted comedy. If you were a fan of "Gilmore Girls," or even if you've never seen it, I think "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" would be a great watch for you.

There is something great about a show that has a strong female lead and current themes embedded in the 1950's setting. This is a show for the whole family to enjoy.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

College is a great place to meet people, especially through Greek life. If you look closely at sororities, you'll quickly see there are many different types of girls you will meet.

1. The Legacy.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
