Emergency Scripture For The Start Of A New Semester

Adulting is hard

Let's be honest. Your summer was either extremely eventful or totally boring because you had to work. Either way, you didn't have the nuisance of time management and balancing all that comes with schoolwork...ugh right!? Don't fret my friend you are NOT alone.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Regretting scheduling that 8 A.M...

We all have high hopes of being super ambitious the first week of class...then our first class roles around...yikes. I was totally late to my 11 A.M. No worries. We can get caught up in the angst of a new semester that we forget to RELAX and TRUST that Gods totally got this. He will (if you let him) power you through those early alarms!

"Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light." Colossians 1:11-12

Uhm why did I choose this major again!?

Yeah, I know I'm not the only one who started this school year with that infamous question. Whatever major has made its way into your path, it's okay to have doubts. However, don't forget to bring those trials to the big guy, he's got great things planned for you. No matter where you're at it's never wasted time...God is using this time and planning something great.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Their success is not your failure

It can be so disheartening when we come across instances that make us feel inadequate or unsuccessful within our majors. Particularly when those around us are ultimately succeeding. First off, your major doesn't define you AT ALL. So take a deep breath.

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." Proverbs 16:3

Anxiety at its finest

You are going to cram...we all do it. You are going to doubt yourself and struggle bus through certain content. You'll encounter pressure and negativity. Stand strong! You are going to get through this and your God knows the convictions and trials of the year ahead...don't lose sight of where your hope resides!

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour
StableDiffusion

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
