Embrace The Mission

There is no "one size fits all" method when it comes to missions.

In this generation, many feel as if they aren't doing enough. Almost to the point where they feel like they don't have a place in this crazy world. I mean, people get denied out of their dream schools, jobs, and other activities. In reality, they place all of their hope into one earthly thing -- education, money, or fun. I'm here to say that our hope and dreams shouldn't lie within this world, but rather within our heavenly God. We have a role in this world, whether we think it's what right for us or not.

God has a world sized role for every Christian in his global redemptive purpose. I mean take Acts 18:9-10 for example, "...Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you because I have many in this city." (NIV)

No matter where God leads you, even if you don't think it's in the right direction, you need to embrace it and not be afraid. Stand up for what you believe in. Furthermore, if we are always following our "default" we can't be in God's "world sized" view. We won't be able to do more, like God intended. The only way that we can expand our faith is if we step outside of our comfort zone.

In fact, God said in John 15:5-8, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciple." Read that again, WE CAN DO NOTHING without God.

We must sacrifice some of our preferences in order to take a "world sized" role in this world. As stated before, we must step outside of our comfort zone. There is no "one size fits all" method when it comes to missions. We (as Christians) are given spiritual gifts and we are to use our gifts to further His kingdom.

God's plan always involves partnerships that produce synergy and longevity, as well. Working alone doesn't always work out like we hope it would; this is why God brings other Christians into our lives. So when we feel like we shouldn't spread His word, we must embrace our situation and know that we could save a soul. Mark 16:15 states, "He said to them, 'Go into all of the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'"

(NIV) and Matthew 28: 19-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." God is with us even when we don't feel comfortable with our situation. So, go out and embrace the mission Christ has set out for all believers.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
