Embracing in general is like giving a hug; it is not always comfortable, but in the end it is beneficial. Similar to a hug, embracing what life throws your way, good and bad, might hold more benefit than you thought it ever could. Not only that but it can also allow you to get more out of life. Here are six aspects benefits of embracing it, and along with each point comes a challenge: The way it refers to your life, and all of the situations that you find yourself inside of that.

1. Time goes slower.

I had never thought of time being slow as a good thing, well other than if I am on a fantastic vacation. Maybe you have thought that too. That all of the busy stuff that is gone through every day needs to be as rushed as it can be. And for what? To just get tasks done?

Challenge: Embrace to feel more productive with tasks.

2. You appreciate things more.

With the act of embracing, comes more awareness. It is like walking along a trial and actually stopping to smell the roses. By taking the time to embrace the moment of smelling the fragrant flower, your appreciation for the world just grew.

Challenge: Embrace tasks throughout your day, in an effort to appreciate you journey and to take things less for granted.

3. More things become enjoy able.

Just like embracing a flower becomes enjoyable in the moment, other broader acts can be too. I have found that even the most rigorous study sessions and long papers can start to be transformed into at least a slight bit of enjoying. This can only occur when the immediate challenge is taken on in a deeper way. A way that allow you to be present to the task at hand, not to the other thousand f thoughts floating about.

Challenge: Embrace stressful situations, and find the nuggets of gold that are buried within.

4. Levels of understanding deepens.

Some people learn for the love of knowledge, others because they want a good job that provides a lot of money. Either way, school is school, and getting yourself educated is easier said than done. It might seem easier to rush through assignments just to make it to the next “check point” in the class, but you will benefit more if you actually dive into the topics that are studied.

Challenge: Embrace academic rigor, in such a way that creates and a new way understanding.

5. More opportunities are seized.

Embracing life also pertains to being more alert to ones surroundings. This includes at home, at school, work, and any other place that you find yourself at. This can not only allow you to take in more of the world but will also allow you to see more opportunities to apply yourself. After all, you never know when the next opportunity to get your dream job might show up. Hopefully you are not passively floating on by in your life when it does.

Challenge: Embrace the surroundings you are in, and always be on the lookout for new opportunities?

6. There is more potential to be less self-centered.

Embracing every moment allows you to come out of the shell that you know as your world, and your comfort zone. Get out of the ordinary monotonic rhythm that you fall into during a long time routine, by embracing each task in your life, you can not only benefit yourself, but those around you as well. Stepping outside of your bubble as mentioned above, will give you opportunities, and those are not all for personal gain. These opportunities include helping others out with what you have to offer, and simply being a friend. This most likely will cause you to venture out of your comfort zone.

Challenge: Embrace being out of your comfort zone, and while you are in a vulnerable state encourage others to join you.

Living in the moment is what embracing is about. To really have the moment lived to its fullest, you have to be committed though; no one can do it for you. So, use these six points as objectives to get more out of your life. And remember, that the use of these challenges can aid in facilitating in the making of a better you!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
