How to Embody a Parisian Women

It seems to me, there is a certain allure about Parisian women. I mean, there’s even a book written about it! The novel “How to be Parisian wherever you are,” written by four of the most chic women, gives you insight on how to be exactly that – Parisian.

Having grown up around French culture and having spent a lot of summers strolling through the Parisian streets, I was quite eager to pick up this book. I ordered it from Amazon to make sure I received it the next day – I finished it within 3 hours of receiving it.

The book is witty, insightful, and spirited when it comes to style, behaviors, love – but is it true?

My last trip to Paris gave me the insiders look on Parisian women and in my opinion, what makes them so charming, so chic, is their simplicity.

Parisian women don’t feel the need to wear loads of makeup, they almost always let their hair fall naturally, and they seem to have genuinely accepted themselves for who they are.

They aren't afraid to match gold with silver, or to wear a mens pant/suit combo without loosing a feminine touch. They don't always follow the strict rules of fashion, which adds a mysteriously chic approach to their looks. They don't feel the need to be wearing revealing clothing, or loads of makeup to feel beautiful. To Parisian women, and French women around; what makes them feel beautiful is simply being a women.

Growing up with a French mother, but living in a small California beach town; I never understood why my mothers ideals of beauty were so different than everyone else's. She would tell me to wax instead of shave, to not wear makeup when I didn't need to, to buy as many plain white shirts as I could possibly own, to develop a signature scent; the list goes on. All these tips, I realize now, helped me develop my sense of womanhood.

The Parisian woman has a certain allure to her because, and only because, she is confident about who she is. The ideals of plastic surgery, makeup, revealing clothing, doing your hair, etc. only takes away from the Parisian woman's natural beauty; something french mothers ingrain in their daughters life at a very young age.

Parisian women have an allure because they are women who are able to be comfortable with their sexuality, their beauty, and their essence. They are elegant and chic, because they simply don't try to be.

If you want tips and tricks on how to evolve into a Parisian women, I strongly suggest buying the book! Most of the tips they include are factual and very much embody the Parisian woman.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:
