During the holidays, we went to Florida instead of staying in Ohio with my father, and we had rented out a house for a few days. The house had a pool and it was close to the beach. Now while on the break ,my family and I decided to take a swim in the pool before we went down to the beach. When I mean my family, I mean everyone was at this house. My grandfather wanted to take a swim, but he had an idea and wanted all of us to watch him. His idea was to go down the slide, so he set up an inner tube down at the bottom. My grandfather went down the slide into the inner tube. The funny thing is that he didn’t go all the way through the float. He was stuck! Hours later, we went through half a pound of butter and a few scissors, but we finally got him unstuck!

It was the Christmas break of my eighth grade year and I went to go visit my out of state family. My family wanted to take a Christmas photo on my grandparent’s property. On the property, there was an old wooden bridge and that’s where we decided to take the photo. Underneath the bridge there was a giant pool of water. The bridge was unstable and when all my family stood on it, the old wood it collapsed, and all of us fell into the water. It gave us an awesome story ever!!

One year, we decided to bob for apples at a family holiday party. When you bob for apples, you have to hold your hands behind your back. Without using my hands, I dove into the barrel with my eyes closed. The apples would not work with me! I couldn’t do it and I went too far into the barrel. I didn’t realize I did this and I hit my head at the bottom. To this day I will not eat an apple!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
