It may sound silly,
but when I'm sad
I listen to Elvis.
It may sound childish,
but I let his voice
cradle my mind to sleep
on the loneliest nights.
It may sound absurd,
or at least my friends say so
but I let his music
bring my thoughts to a place
far away from my home,
a place where my worries
are shed from my body
in thick layers.
May my lonely nights
sound like Elvis,
for it is his music
that has calmed my days.
Because some things
that are the silliest,
most childish,
and most absolutely absurd
can be our medicine.
They are our relief.
So,
listen to the songs that make you cry
play the music that makes you feel again.
Because in the end,
we're all foolish people.
For example
when I'm sad I listen to Elvis.
