" Grey's Anatomy" has become some sort of religion that takes place on Thursday nights for millions of viewers nationwide. We have sat through some of the toughest episodes and watched our favorite characters go through things that we couldn't possibly imagine happening. We relate to them. We laugh when they laugh and we cry when they cry. This show has given us characters who we consider family and it wouldn't be possible without one character in particular: Meredith Grey. Meredith Grey is the heart of this show and it wouldn't exist without her. As the final season is coming to a close, I have piled up reasons as to why we should all thank Meredith Grey for the many lessons that she has taught us throughout the past 12 seasons.
1. Meredith taught us early on that we should all be careful about who we bring home because you never know who they really are.
2. She said the words that all girls wish that they had the balls to say to the man they love.
3. She taught us how to properly drink tequila.
4. Meredith taught us how to have a person who we cannot live without.
5. Meredith proved to us that being happy all of the time is unhealthy.
6. She has never let a boy get in between her and her person, which is something that everyone should learn to do.
7. She showed us that having a big wedding isn't for everyone. For some, writing vows on a post-it note will suffice.
8. She showed us how to make even the most complicated relationship last until death do us part.
9. She helped us realise that even though our significant other might be extremely amazing, they are not the sun and your life should not revolve around theirs.
10. Meredith was the perfect example of how to be a successful woman and an amazing mother.
11. Lastly, she recently taught us that in order to be heard, we need to make ourselves heard.
Meredith Grey survived more things in 12 seasons than most people experience in their entire life. She is a mom, a widow, and an incredible surgeon. I think that I speak for everyone when I say that I will truly miss Meredith Grey on my television screen every Thursday night.
