Who Are You Voting For?

As my phone is blowing up from notifications from CNN and FOX News, I see so and so is running and this one dropped and that one. Stop!

It is getting way to overwhelming for me and I am a political science major with an intent in government. Even though election season is my favorite season besides the Spring, I want to get myself more aware of all the candidates since I can officially vote for a President and fulfill my duties as being an American citizen. I am currently 19 years old and have my own opinions on who and why I am voting for this upcoming season, so I wanted to get other college students opinions on who they are thinking about voting for this upcoming November.

I asked my fellow friends from different universities and some from my schools various ages and genders to see who they are thinking about and potentially voting for in November this year.

"Honestly, who are the candidates?" — Anonymous (18, Female SUNY Brockport)

"I'm voting for Sanders because he is the most progressive and I agree with his beliefs in healthcare and women's rights. Women's rights are obviously important to me because I want to have the ability to choose what I do with my body, my time, and have equal pay for equal work, etc. I also agree with his ideals on healthcare because I'm affected by health issues, like my high blood pressure, thyroid issues, and kidney problems. He doesn't want pharmaceutical companies to make a profit while consumers go bankrupt pay for necessary medication, so I have personal ties to those issues. Not to sure where I stand with the minimum wage and free college. There are pros and cons to each side." — Taylor Dickson (20, Female SUNY Brockport)

"Bernie Sanders because he is not stupid like Trump" — Allie Barlowe (18, Female SUNY Geneseo)

"RUBIO RUBIO" — Christina D (18, Female Saint Johns University)

"None of the Candidates are good enough for this election. Which is why I do not want to vote" — Sherrise Rodriguez (18, Female SUNY Brockport)

"Feel the bern, I'm very about service and equality. I believe that those who are better off and have had great opportunities are obligated to help those who haven't. You should leave this world having made it a better place for everyone, not just yourself." — Rob Bertz (21, Male SUNY Brockport)

"I will be voting for Donald Trump" — Michelle Weinfurt (18, Female SUNY Oswego)

Many college students do know who the candidates are and some do not know who the candidates are and do not think their vote is important at all. College students are the future of this country, we can help make a decision that could either make or break our future. From the many responses I received, I can tell you that college students do matter in voting.

By reading this article, I hope to encourage you all to go out and vote in November. With many opinions from Republican, Democratic and Independent viewed college students this will help you with your decision in the upcoming fall. November is far away but it will come sooner than you think. Lastly, I want you to make a decision that is right for you.

Get excited people!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
