Four in every ten Americans had trouble deciding which candidate to vote for because neither was good and less than half of BOTH parties were satisfied with their party’s candidate, which is the lowest level of satisfaction in 20 years! This level of dissatisfaction displays exactly how inadequate our current system of election is at providing the people with a candidate they wholeheartedly support.
Another question resulting from this election is: "What’s going to happen now?" Trump didn’t go in depth about what his plans were for after he was elected, but he does promise to repeal Obama care, cut taxes, increase jobs, change gun laws and stop the entrance of illegal immigrants while supporting the well-being of legal immigrants.
We also have to ask ourselves, "Are the Republicans finally going to man up?" This election has left us with a Republican president, a Republican majority House and a Republican majority Senate. Because the president, the House, and the Senate are Republican, now is the prime time to pass all the Republican reform they want; however, the Republicans have had the House and the Senate since 2014 and they made no real change while under Obama; hopefully for the Republicans, they will finally man up enough while under trump to actually make some changes.
The final, and I believe the most important, question this election has brought a round is: "What are we going to make small talk about any more?" I know for the past two years if I was at a loss as to what to say to somebody, I always brought up the impending election but pretty soon the hype over the results are going to be long gone and none of us are going to have anything to talk about with our weird Uncle Pete or those people who want to make conversation while riding in the elevator together. This election season has been exciting, but I’m glad it is finally over, and I believe everyone is nervously waiting to see where America is heading next; hopefully not down the drain pipe!
