It is safe to say that election day is always a day filled with a lot of emotions, rightfully so. This election is probably filled with even more emotions, being that the two presidential candidates can probably agree to disagree on everything from human rights to taxes and everything in between. Recent presidential debates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump may sometimes have seemed more like a bad reality television show than anything else, which is frustrating.
One thing I am satisfied with about this election is the fact that I am constantly seeing articles and videos regarding the presidential election on various social media platforms, including: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. I personally feel that social media coverage is a great way to effectively reach millennials and keep them informed, whether they are interested in politics or not and regardless of their political views.
While I am not going to attempt to convince people to choose a particular side, I do think there is something to be said about people choosing not to execute their right to vote in this election. Yes, people have the right to make their own decisions, but I do not think being dissatisfied with the candidates is a good enough reason not to vote at all. Cast a vote based on who you feel would be the best option, because no matter how much you dislike one or both of the candidates… one of them is going to be the next president.
America is arguably the most powerful country in the world, and as Americans we have an obligation to do all we can to maintain that responsibility. If you are scared of a certain candidate becoming the next president, vote against them. It is so very important that millennials vote and show how influential our generation is because this election can and will greatly impact our future.
