Where I'll Be On Election Day 2016

The political season is upon us and all of a sudden, I am an adult who is able to have a say in the future of America -- and yet I'm not sure what do with that power. The idea that my vote counts is incredible, and I want to be able to make an informed decision on who I vote for, not just who my friends and parents are voting for. This is my right, my freedom, and it's my future.

This election is so pivotal for so many reasons which is why it's vital that all those who can should get out and vote. The struggles of today can be struggles of the past if we exercise our given right of choosing our next president. Don't take this lightly: truly consider the big picture and long term effects of who you're voting for. As a generation, we are ready to stand up for what we want and we need to follow through with it. We can post on social media all we want and we can talk at school with our friends, even going to rallies and debates, but unless we go to the polls, it’s all null and void. Action speaks much louder than words.

To all of those (much like myself) who are scrolling through Facebook with a slightly confused look on their face, trying to understand what the truth is and what’s not, don’t worry. It’s normal to be overwhelmed by the political system, but don’t let that hold you back from establishing an opinion and finding out what politician appeals to you. That is the beauty of America and the democracy we live in (even if it doesn’t always seem like it)--the ability to choose who you want to vote for and the bills you want to pass.

This right is something we should use to our advantage. We are the most powerful country in the world and with great power comes great responsibility. Make sure that whoever you vote for gives you confidence in the future. If you are scared of certain candidates becoming the party nominee, do something! Don’t stand idly by and let others choose our future. Millennials, wake up and smell the coffee: we need to do this. Not to sound like a broken record, but it is imperative that we all make an informed decision for ourselves and America. Let’s take to the polls and fill the lines with strong views and show the former generations that we can make this world a better place.

On November 8th, exercise your right as an American citizen, and help be the change you want to see. Every single vote matters--your voice matters. For the other first time voters, let's raise our voices and choose how we want our country to be run. This is our time to show how influential we as a generation can be. Who I’m voting for may be undisclosed, but where I will be on Election Day is very clear.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
