The Election 2016 Explained By Puppies

So, the day after the election. We've made it. Or we think we have? When I woke up this morning, I expected to see my group chat, Facebook and Twitter feeds, and Snapchat blowing up with who won. My own mother texted me at 6:30 a.m. telling me who won. I'm not going to fill your heads with who should've won, and who everyone should have voted for. That's the beauty of America: we all have our own opinions, we all can vote for whomever we want, and we can choose not to share. But this election raises an important topic of discussion: the use of social media in political elections and politics in general. So, to make things a little lighter on this cloudy day (it's cloudy right now where I'm from): explaining this election according to the most precious gift God has ever given, puppies, will make everything better.

The night of a debate and everyone posts on Facebook their opinions:

It's okay, post your opinions. This is a free country. I don't have to like them though.

That one person who comments on every post you try to make concerning the election:

STOP COMMENTING ON ALL MY POSTS BECAUSE I SIMPLY DO NOT CARE.

That moment when you realize you have no idea who you're voting for:

Who to vote for when the media is calling one a racist, sexist, homophobe and the other one a criminal? Where is the line drawn at media posting about candidates and their personal lives/personalities?

When you hear the candidates saying they want to create jobs:

Is it possible that I can sell my GPA?

You don't want to be a part of this election but you keep checking Twitter for more updates:

*Opens Twitter* sees tweet from Donald Trump *closes Twitter* then proceeds to open Twitter back again. Repeat process.

You've had it with the election coverage and want real and positive news:

C'mon American media, we want to hear the real news.

When something new comes up in the news about a candidate and you're just like:

SURPRISE! Another update on those emails we keep hearing about!

When one candidate slips up but the other one slips up too:

Crash and burn.

When you're upset about the election but you remember you still have a cuddle buddy:

I just want a puppy. Or two. Or a hundred. Is that too much to ask for?

What you wanted to do during the debates:

Every comment they make requires a stress ball. No matter who you support, it seems that being on live TV makes them nervous and say the wrong thing.

What you want to do now that the election is over:

But not actually because college gets in the way and have to write three papers and study for final exams all while trying to find internships and jobs.

Remember that we live in America, the land of the free:

Where dogs can run around in adorable hotdog costumes, right?

I don't care who you voted for, just remember that the world still has puppies and that's all I need. #merica

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
