As this election continues, it becomes increasingly more apparent that both candidates could be a dangerous choice for the American people. I am not a Trump supporter by any means, however I have to give credit where credit is due. He is a brilliant man and he has found the perfect way to tap into a portion of America that is not only intolerant, but well, not too intelligent either.
Now, I’m not saying that every Trump supporter is like this, but he has successfully found a way to appeal to people who feel they have been wronged by the government, feel as if they have no political voice and, quite honestly, feel as if they are the most important people in America. The fact that Trump increasingly expresses hateful rhetoric not only fuels intolerance, but hate as well.
In fact, at the RNC convention there was a woman with a banner that stated, “No racism, no hate” and while she was peacefully walking with the banner several of Trumps supporters start pushing her around and even attempted to cover the banner with an American flag. Even worse, there were people snatching the banner out of her hands. The blatant irony is hysterical. Not only were those people quelling her right, but they were covering up a banner basically stating what America is supposed to be about with our American flag that they were consistently dropping on the ground.
Situations like this have happened over and over again with Trump's people, but thankfully this was less violent. I don’t believe Trump believes a thing that he is saying. He is a business man and he knows how to play both sides of the coin. He chooses what is most lucrative and beneficial for him at the moment and it’s our fault that we are falling for his ploy. On the other side of the aisle, we have Hillary Clinton. A woman who has not only committed various questionable acts, but has not been a consistent democrat like she claims. She has been caught lying, she is shifty and she is untrustworthy. We don’t need another American Dynasty holding office yet again.
As the RNC convention came to a close, Clinton announced her VP pick and shortly after #DNCLeaks was trending on Twitter and Facebook. Wiki Leaks had released 20,000 pages of emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee.
Many had doubts that the DNC was being truly unbiased when it came to the battle between Clinton and Sanders, and many see these emails as confirmation of what so many already knew. The DNC wanted Clinton in office and they noticeably favored her over Sanders and they did anything they could to get her the nomination.
This timing is calculated and further muddies the authenticity and motives of this election. It could harm Clinton, but worse it gives fuel to the already insatiable Trump fire.
As a young voter, I am appalled by the state of our government. It is clear to me that no one has our best interests at heart and I am legitimately frightened for the state of our country come November.
With Trump, I am afraid that he will work to take the rights of many away and cause many allies to turn their backs on us.
With Clinton, I am
afraid of what she is capable of considering her past history. Both choices could be disastrous. I think it can
be said that Trump would be more hazardous than Clinton, but the choices for
this election are still bleak. Either way, we are in for a very long four years.
