Vaping is becoming wildly popular as a somewhat safer alternative to cigarettes, and the market has exploded. But that's also brought a new challenge: the vast variety of different vape juice flavors you have to pick from. We're here to help you unpack the options and make tasting new juices a more effective and pleasant experience.
Know What's in Your Juice
When buying vape juice, there are two primary options to choose from: propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine. Both are generally considered safe, although there have been significantly more studies into the ingestion of VG than of PG. And while VG is generally al little sweeter than PG, the differences in taste can mostly be offset by the flavoring and other additives used. The bigger distinction is how they feel when they hit. VG hits smoother but is less discrete and results in large clouds of smoke. PG is a better choice if you prefer a hard hit and are looking to be more surreptitious with your vape usage.
Pay Attention to the Nicotine Content
One of the main selling points of a vape is that it can wean you off of a nicotine addiction, but getting a vape liquid with too high of a nicotine content could only make things worse. Generally, you should go for something a little higher in nicotine content if you're a heavy smoker looking to scale back your usage and slowly lower that percentage as you're comfortable with it.
Heavy smokers should look for roughly 18 milligrams or above, while lighter smokers can probably get by with just 6 milligrams. Picking the wrong content can have an effect on your health too. Heavy smokers will have to hit the vape more to get the satisfaction they crave, and inhaling too much can lead to headaches.
Use Your Personal Tastes as a Guide
If there's a flavor that makes you salivate, chances are that there's a vape liquid that can match your needs. If you have a sweet tooth, maybe go with something like a Strawberry Banana E-Juice 120 mL. Do you have a long history of smoking cigarettes? You might want to turn your attention to something more traditional and tobacco-flavored. There's no need to reinvent the wheel here. Just consider what flavors you like, and think carefully on whether a flavor is strong enough or distinct enough to lose your interest over time.
Consider Mixing and Matching
If there's a flavor you can't find on the internet—or a flavor that doesn't quite meet your expectations—experimenting can usually provide you with the results you want. You can combine together radically different flavors or even combine together VG and PG liquid to get a different experience from your vape and enjoy a different flavor. It will largely require some trial and error, but getting your vape liquid just right can be one of the most satisfying experiences for a vape smoker.
