Video games are often seen as a medium for children and teenagers, but there are some video games that have a reach that far exceeds their target demographic. The game “Skyrim” is one of these games, and had a massive spike in popularity back in 2011 when it was released. “Skyrim” has even found its way to 80 year-old Shirley Curry, who has been uploading to YouTube consistently since 2015.

Curry is destroying two stigmas: the first being that video games purely appeal to children, and, more importantly, that older people can never understand modern technology. Those who view Curry’s videos will find that she’s actually pretty good at “Skyrim,” and has uploaded over 300 gameplay videos with a large majority of them being over twenty minutes long.

Curry also has a lighthearted sense of humor in her commentary, and tries to interact with all of her followers. She jokingly refers to her fans as her ‘grandkids,’ and her fans in turn refer to her as ‘Grandma Curry.’

Curry also has a PO Box where fans can send her letters and art. She also has a Facebook page, a Twitter account, an Instagram account, and even a Steam group. However, it’s impossible for Curry to respond to every fan, because she now has over 200,000 YouTube subscribers.

She has recently seen a spike in popularity with “Skyrim” getting all-new attention from it’s remastered re-release last month. She has even been awarded YouTube’s ‘Silver Play Button,’ which is awarded to YouTube users for having a high subscriber count.

While Skyrim is Curry’s favorite game, she often plays other things as well such as “No Man’s Sky,” “Civilization,” and “Ark.” However, Curry is very particular about what games she plays. Curry says in her profile description, “I only like real people/movie type games. I’ve tried other kinds of games but I don’t enjoy them.”

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
