The movies. The music. The general culture. Just about everything to come out of the 1980s was amazing and some of it is still relevant to this day! But there's one particular age group that really got a lot of attention and focus in the 80s. Those darn kids/teens.

Let's start off with a pretty popular thing to come from the 1980s. The movies! So many classics came out of the 1980s. "Back to the Future." "Star Wars Episode V" and VI. "The Breakfast Club." "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (my favorite film of all time). "Ghostbusters." "Die Hard." Literally, there are so many classics from the 80s that it's honestly too hard to keep track of all of them. And, a good majority of these were directed towards young adults/teens (Well, maybe not "Die Hard"). Also, a lot of these films dealt with real-life issues that teenagers in the 80s were facing.

The music of the 1980s is so iconic. You had Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Van Halen, The Police, countless one-hit wonders, Lionel Richie, and Whitney Houston just to name a few. Again, these songs and artists had a HUGE teenage following. Especially MJ. So, talking about the latest singles from the latest and hottest artists would've been awesome to participate in.

Overall, the culture was amazing in the 80s, too. The rise of video games with the invention of the Nintendo Entertainment System was huge. Ronald Reagan was the president for pretty much all of the 1980s era. I remember, specifically, that my mom cried while watching President Reagan's funeral on TV because he was a pretty darn good president.

Look, there is one thing that I'm not too certain and that is...sigh... the clothes. I mean, I'm sure if we were living in the 80s, I'd be all about growing a mullet or wearing bright neon clothing but we're not in the 80s so that crap is weird and should only be worn at an 80s dance or something.

Ultimately, I'm happy living in the year 2018. Society, technology, etc. has come so far ever since the 80s, but you've gotta admit, going back to the 80s for one day has got to sound super sweet.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
