Two weeks ago, college football had their annual spring football games. This is one of my favorite days of the year, because it's a wonderful preview of the football season to come. Being an Ohio State fan, the spring game is a very popular tradition. This year we had the highest attended spring football game in all of college football. We sure are some dedicated fans, so here are eight things only dedicated Ohio State football fans will understand.
1. The mention of the spring game
Nothing gets me excited for the next season faster than the annual spring football game. Then my excitement turns into frustration when I realize I still have to wait 171 days until the actual season starts.
2. The tailgating tradition
Did you even go to an OSU football game if you didn’t tailgate before?
3. The ritual of Skull Session
This is one of my favorite events that leads up to the games. I try to go to Skull Session at least once a year before a game. It just gets you that more excited to enter The Shoe as the band plays the fight song and the team walks through.
4. The walk
If you attend Skull Session, you leave Skull Session with everyone that was just in the arena. The shouts of "O-H" "I-O" echo through the halls as you make your way to the stadium.
5. Script Ohio
This grand tradition is one of my favorites from The Best Damn Band In The Land.
6. Participating in the 'O-H-I-O' that goes around the stadium
It makes you feel like you're right at home and it definitely unifies the stadium.
7. 9 STRONG
One of my favorite things about Urban Meyer is how he always talks about the fans and thanks us for being the best damn fans in the land.
8. Staying for 'Carmen Ohio'
After every game, the team gathers at the end of the field, places their arms around each other, and signs 'Carmen Ohio'. The whole stadium follows suit, and it is truly the best feeling ever swaying away to 'Carmen Ohio' with your friends and family.
Win or lose, rain or shine, I will always always root for my Buckeyes. 2017-2018 football season, we're ready for you!
