In a time of disagreement, I think there is one thing we can all collectively agree on: animal abuse is NOT OK. Recently, there was a TMZ video released from the set of A Dog's Purpose. (If you have not already seen it, please take the time to watch it now.) In the one minute clip, you can see a trainer forcing a dog into rough waters in order to get footage for a scene. As a fellow dog lover and owner, the video is almost unbearable to watch. How could anyone harm God's most precious and loving creatures?
In case anyone needs to be reminded, here are a few reasons why dogs may be the best thing to happen to humankind since sliced bread.
1. They are ALWAYS excited to see you
Whether you have been away for 10 minutes or 10 weeks, they will still act like they just won the lottery.
2. They are great listeners
Your dog is the boyfriend you've always wanted. They listen without judgment, will never talk back, and can keep all your deepest, darkest secrets.
3. They teach you to enjoy the little victories
If they can catch their own tail, you can get out of bed and wash your hair for the first time this week. Go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back — you deserve it!
4. You will never have to sleep alone again
Dogs are the best cuddle buddies. There is no need for a significant other when they provide the ultimate warmth and protection.
5. They are the ultimate wingman
Have you ever taken your dog to a park? Heads will turn and everyone suddenly wants to be your friend. And the fact that they follow you around everywhere is just a plus.
6. You will never have to vacuum
Why bend down and pick up scraps of food when you have a dog to do your dirty work.
7. They are literally the cutest things to walk on four legs

8. They give you unconditional love
No matter how many times you have gotten angry about a chewed up shoe, they will always love you. I guess that's why they're man's best friend.
Whether you are a dog person or not, please be kind to our friends. Because they have no voice, it is our responsibility to be an advocate. No animal deserves to be mistreated.
