Eight Products With Multiple Uses

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love beauty hacks. What is even better is every day products that have dual usage. Here is a list of my favorite product tricks, although they may strike you as a little outlandish, they work wonders.

1. Baby wipes. Great for taking off make up in a pinch, but it can also be used as a cleaner. I got hot pink lipstick on a brand new while silk shirt. Before I had a chance to freak out, my cousin dabbed a baby wipe on the stain and it completely removed it. If it can get lipstick off a silk top, then it can clean pretty much anything.

2. Vaseline. This is a great multipurpose product that is also very cheap. It works as a nourishing lip balm, cuticle ointment and even eye makeup remover. Vaseline removes eye makeup without irritation and it promotes healthy eyelashes.

3. Tooth brush. Besides a tool for cleaning your teeth, a toothbrush can clean your blow dryer. First, get a new toothbrush. I am not advocating you put your used toothbrush on your blow dryer. Have you ever looked at the back of your blow dryer and looked at all the dust that has built up? That dust prevents the air from circulating properly and leads to fried hair.

4. Hair mouse. My mother taught me this trick. If you notice your jewelry is looking dull before an event, and you don’t have jewelry cleaner, use a little hair mouse. There is a small enough alcohol content to make your jewelry shiny, but not enough to harm your jewelry. Make sure you are using the mouse on real metal, not costume jewelry from Forever 21. It will turn the costume jewelry green.

5. Deodorant. This tip is going to sound really odd, but deodorant can prevent blisters on your feet.  Next time you have to wear heels buy a cheap stick of deodorant to rub on the back of your heels before you put on your five-inch stilettos or Sperrys.

6. Baby powder. We have all ruined clothes by dropping greasy food on ourselves. The best way to get the grease out is to put baby powder on the stain before washing it. Baby powder and dry shampoo can get the grease out of your hair and they can get the grease out of your clothes. I would not substitute powdered dry shampoo for baby powder, in this case, because dry shampoo often has added ingredients that could irritate the fabric.

7. Nivea cream. I learned this tip in Florence when my mom was buying a leather purse. The lady in the store recommended cleaning the purse with plain Nivea cream with a plain white cloth to buff out scuffs. She said it is a gentle cleaner for the leather and keeps the leather moisturized.

8. Dryer sheets. Not only do dryer sheets keep your clothes smelling great, but also they are great to put in your shoes to prevent odors. I use these in winter to remove static from my hair too.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
